This Sunday at All Saints: May 31/The Feast of Pentecost

Sunday, May 31 is the Feast of Pentecost — our annual celebration of the Birthday of the Church — and although we can’t have the swirling dove kite, the amazing red floral arrangements or our customary “cake on the lawn” this year, we are planning a virtual celebration … and you’re invited!

The morning begins at 10:00 a.m. with a timely and important Rector’s Forum: God’s Good Future? The police lynching of George Floyd and ensuing rebellion in Minneapolis remind us we as the church are called not just to respond to an incident but to use all our resources to remake the world in the image of a God of love and justice.  This Sunday, the All Saints Church Rector’s Forum welcomes the Rev. Amy Butler, former senior minister at Riverside Church in New York City (https://www.pastoramy.com/); the Rev. Alisha Gordon, scholar-activist and Executive Minister of Program at Riverside Church (https://alishagordon.com/) and the Rev. Delonte Gholston, senior pastor of Peace Fellowship Church in Washington D.C. to talk about how the church can invest our assets, money, power and privilege in innovative change to structures of racial and economic oppression. To create God’s good future where all God’s children live in love, dignity and freedom.

From 11 to 11:15 a.m., Kelly Erin O’Phelan leads Children’s Chapel.

At the 11:15 a.m. service (English) Sally Howard preaches and we will gather for a shared meal around our virtual table. From Mike Kinman: “I will invite you to bring food and drink to whatever table you sit at … and we are just going to trust that the whole act of us gathering together wherever we are, sharing a story and enjoying a feast together is holiness enough. Because we are holy enough. Pentecost seems like a pretty good day to do this. After all, the day when everyone heard the Gospel in their own language seems like the right time for us each to bring our own food to the feast. So whether it’s bagels and coffee, biscuits and orange juice, quinoa and La Croix or pizza and beer … bring some food and bring yourself … and we’ll feast together wherever we are.”
Canterbury and Coventry Choirs offer Revelation Song by Riddle.
Mastersingers, Troubadours and Trouvères offer Si Si Ni Moja by Narverud, with soloist Weston Hancock

At the 1:00 p.m. Bilingual (Spanish/English) service Alfredo Feregrino preaches.
Dan Cole & ensemble offer music.
