On Sunday, May 23, we will celebrate the Feast of Pentecost with the inaugural poetry slam commemorating the first anniversary of George Floyd’s murder in the Rector’s Forum at 10 a.m., followed by ONE SERVICE ONLY: a multi-lingual English, Spanish and Mandarin service at 11:15 a.m. We will livestream from All Saints Church where ministers of the liturgy will be observing the social distance and safety protocols dictated by health care professionals and in compliance with our diocesan guidelines as we continue to take incremental steps toward returning for in-person worship.

Rector’s Forum @ 10:00 a.m. – All Saints Church Pasadena’s Inaugural Pentecost Poetry Slam
All Saints Church Pasadena’s inaugural Pentecost Poetry Slam will take place virtually during during the Rector’s Forum. The poetry offered will be to honor the one year anniversary of George Floyd’s murder. The poets will speak to themes associated with Blackness, grief, injustice, hope, trauma, pride, resilience, and collective purpose. You don’t want to miss this act of creative boldness, commemoration of George Floyd, and celebration of Black lives.
- Michael Nelder is poet, TedX speaker, and author of Birth of Light – Poetry on a Pathway to Self Acceptance. Currently he serves as Director of Hope for LA, an organization that seeks to end homelessness, love foster youth, and lift up families in need.
- Dr. Michael Datcher is author of the acclaimed Ferguson-area novel AMERICUS and the Pulitzer Prize-nominated ANIMATING BLACK AND BROWN LIBERATION: A Theory of American Literatures
- Dr. Natalie J. Graham is Chair of African American Studies at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and Director of the Institute of Black Intellectual Innovation. She is an award-winning author and performer who has toured nationally with her collection of poems, Begin with a Failed Body.
- Danielle Byrd is an actress and nationally competing poet, dedicated to sharing the truth through storytelling.
- Jayden Anderson is a multi-talented artist who expresses himself in visual arts, acting, and hip hop dancing. He is a high school junior at California School of the Arts-San Gabriel Valley.

11:00 – 11:15: Meditative Chapel aims to be a liminal space between the hustle of life and household and a more tranquil, worshipful mindset. We’ll have a reading and a moment of meditation, you’ll just need yourself and a candle if you have one.
