At 9:00 a.m. in the Forum: The Legacy of Huey P. Newton and the Black Panthers
with Fredrika Newton
Fredrika Newton was introduced to the young political icon, Dr. Huey P. Newton, in 1970 by her mother, Arlene Slaughter, a housing activist and real estate agent for the Black Panther Party. Soon after their meeting, Newton elected to join the Black Panther Party where she served as a teacher in the Samuel Napier Youth Institute, helped establish the George Jackson Free Medical Clinic, and briefly worked on the Black Panther Party Newspaper. She and Dr. Newton were married several years later and lived together until he was killed in 1989. As the president of the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation, which she co-founded with David Hilliard, Newton works to preserve and promulgate the history, ideals, and legacy of Dr. Newton and the Black Panther Party. Newton is currently working with the Oakland Mayor’s Office towards a prominently placed historical monument, a series of plaques located throughout the city, and a touring (and permanent) museum to commemorate the Black Panther Party’s historical legacy.
Also at 9:00 a.m. join Ahren Martinez for the arts, crafts, music and good vibes of Family Hour — for parents and children (kindergarten through fifth grade) before the 10:00 a.m. service. Also following the 10:00 a.m. service, we offer two great events:
The 20/30’s November Social
12:30-2:00 p.m., Congregation Ale House, 300 S Raymond Avenue in Pasadena. All 20/30’s are warmly invited to come for fun and lunch – pizza is on us! Please RSVP (or email if you have questions) to 2030allsaints@gmail.com.
Transgender Day of Remembrance
5:00 p.m. in the Church. On and around this day across the world, people gather in solidarity to mourn those who have been victims of anti-trans violence, and to ensure that their lives, and deaths, are not forgotten. It allows us to call attention to the continued violence and discrimination persons of trans experience face every day, and serve as a reminder that the community of people of trans experience and their allies are resilient. Following the service we will have a private dinner and discussion for transgender people. At the same time, all allies are invited for a group discussion. We encourage you to join us in the church, but if you can’t make it stream it live here.
Streaming at 7:30 is offered on Zoom, and at 10:00 a.m. is offered on our website’s live stream page, our Facebook page and our YouTube channel. Check out our live streaming page to download service leaflets and take part in our action of the week.

For in-person worship, our guiding principle remains to follow common sense risk reduction guidance for as long as we remain in a declared public health pandemic, so to keep our community safe and well, our in-person worship guidelines include:
- Masks are still strongly recommended indoors on the All Saints campus, but they are now optional.
- Masks are optional outdoors.
- Both outdoor and indoor seating is available for services and communion will be served in both locations.
- Our expectation is that those entering the church will be vaccinated (if vaccination is available to them)
- Those who choose to be unvaccinated are requested to participate online.
- Those seated indoors are asked to maintain social distance between individuals/households.
- If we reach seating capacity in the church, ushers will guide you to alternative seating areas.
- We ask you not enter if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever over 100.4°F or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, or if you have had contact in the last 14 days with someone diagnosed with or suspected to have COVID- 19.
