Covid-19 Protocols Update: Because of the recent sharp rise in COVID, flu, and RSV cases in Los Angeles County, out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with our ongoing policy of common-sense risk reduction, effective December 8, 2022, All Saints Church is returning to requiring masks for all indoor gatherings — including worship, meetings and social gatherings. This policy will remain in effect throughout the holidays and we will re-evaluate masking protocols in early January.
December 11, 2022 is the Third Sunday of Advent! Susan Russell will preach at 7:30 a.m. in the chapel. At 10:00 a.m. in the main church, we celebrate the feast day of the Our Lady of Guadalupe with a service full of candles, roses, and joyful song. Alfredo Feregrino offers a meditation; Coventry choir and Maya Proulx offer music. A festive reception on the lawn follows.
At 9:00 a.m. in the Forum: Where Is the Hope? Youth at Risk with Father Greg Boyle and Mikala Rahn
Fr. Greg Boyle is an American Jesuit priest and the founder of Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, the largest gang-intervention, rehabilitation, and re-entry program in the world. He is the acclaimed author of Tattoos on the Heart and Barking to the Choir. The Whole Language is his third book, and he will be donating all net proceeds to Homeboy Industries. Dr. Mikala Rahn is the CEO and Founder of Public Works (PW) and has extensive experience in the areas of school improvement, curriculum and assessment, teacher professional development and support; juvenile justice, intervention and prevention programs; and workforce development. Dr. Rahn founded Learning Works Charter School in 2008. The school focuses on the needs of students the mainstream educational system does not address: dropouts, probation youth and pregnant and parenting teens. The school serves hundreds of the highest risk youth at both the Pasadena main campus and a resource center located at Homeboy Industries in Boyle Heights. If you can join us in person, we would love to see you! If not, stream the Forum live here.
Also at 9:00 a.m. join Ahren Martinez for the arts, crafts, music and good vibes of Family Hour — for parents and children (kindergarten through fifth grade) before the 10:00 a.m. service. Parents are welcome to participate or drop children off. Join us in the Learning Center (top floor of Regas House) for music, art, and fun! At 11:30 a.m. on the Lawn, we’ll offer the 20/30’s December Social. All 20/30’s are warmly invited to attend the Our Lady of Guadalupe service at 10:00 a.m. We will celebrate the feast day of the Virgen de Guadalupe – the patron saint of the Americas – with a festive service full of candles, roses, and joyful song. For in-person worship, our guiding principle remains to follow common sense risk reduction guidance for as long as we remain in a declared public health pandemic, so to keep our community safe and well, our in-person worship guidelines include:
- Masks are still strongly recommended indoors on the All Saints campus, but they are now optional.
- Masks are optional outdoors.
- Both outdoor and indoor seating is available for services and communion will be served in both locations.
- Our expectation is that those entering the church will be vaccinated (if vaccination is available to them)
- Those who choose to be unvaccinated are requested to participate online.
- Those seated indoors are asked to maintain social distance between individuals/households.
- If we reach seating capacity in the church, ushers will guide you to alternative seating areas.
- We ask you not enter if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever over 100.4°F or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, or if you have had contact in the last 14 days with someone diagnosed with or suspected to have COVID- 19.
