This Sunday at All Saints: Sunday, February 11, 2024

Sunday, February 11th, is a full and rich Sunday! We Celebrate the Lunar New Year! The Lunar New Year is a celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar. It is the most important holiday in Chinese culture, and it is also widely celebrated in South Korea, Vietnam, and around the world. Lunar New Year is a time for family reunions. Many people travel across China to be with their loved ones. 2024 is the year of the dragon in the Chinese zodiac. This is the second year that it is a California state holiday.

Mike Kinman preaches at 7:30 and the Rev. Eddie Anderson preaches at 10:00 a.m. In the 10:00 a.m. service in the Church, Coventry Choir offers 이호준 — 은혜의 강물 (A River of Grace Flowing by Ho Joon Lee) and For the Beauty of the Earth, a Chinese Folk Tune arr. by Walker. ASL interpretation is available at 10:00.

9:00 a.m. in the Forum: The World We Want Is Possible
with Eddie Anderson

In an age where more and more people are losing faith in government, The Rev. Eddie Anderson is going all in. The pastor of historic McCarty Memorial Church in West Adams and the California Co-Chair of the Rev. William Barber’s Poor People’s Campaign, Eddie is the perfect person to lead us in a conversation about hope and healing in a time of polarization and despair. Join us!

Children’s Chapel during the 10 a.m. service!
Kindergarten through 5th graders! Come one, come all and join us for Children’s Chapel during the 10:00 a.m. service, where children will experience music, arts and crafts, meditations, storytelling, wiggly fun, spiritual practices for kids and so much more! Children’s Chapel is a space for your child to build church community with children their own age, celebrate diverse cultures and explore who/what God means to them. Here at All Saints, we encourage children and youth to show up as their fully authentic selves every day, ask questions and love one other fiercely through modeling it for them, first, and through our weekly discussions! It is never a dull moment in Children’s Chapel, so please join us! Parents are always welcome. Let’s celebrate and connect! For information please contact Nina Scherer at nscherer@allsaints-pas.org.

Join Greeter Jenn McGaw in our Online Coffee Hour on Zoom following the 10:00 service.

You’re invited to our Welcome Coffee today at 11:30. This coffee hour is for newcomers, guests, or any who has questions about All Saints Church — a great opportunity to meet informally with staff members and have your questions answered. All are Welcome!

Our next Financial Town Hall will be at 11:45 a.m., in the Forum. The goal of these gatherings is to expand understanding of how All Saints functions operationally, as well as to invite more participation into our work to sustain and grow this special place. Next week’s gathering will focus primarily on review of the 2023 year-end results and 2024 income and expense projections. We encourage everyone to mark your calendar and attend. This is a great way to better understand how we work together to live into our values and sustain the ministries that are happening in and through this community every day.

At 3:00 p.m. in the Learning Center, Friends and Football lovers are welcome to the 2024 Super Bowl Watch Party. This is also a potluck, so feel free to provide soft soda, snacks, beer or wine, to share among ourselves. We are going to provide soft drinks and popcorn! All are Welcome!

At 5:00 p.m. in Sweetland Hall, the Interfaith Study Group will feature Mark Steven Greenfield presenting “Iconography for a New Era.” Mark will present his art and the stories behind them. So please bring an open heart, and a vegetarian dish to share in our potluck – and enjoy a great interfaith gathering.

For in-person worship, our guiding principle remains to follow common sense risk reduction guidance for as long as we remain in a declared public health pandemic, so to keep our community safe and well, our in-person worship guidelines include:

  • (as of 1/30/23) Because Los Angeles County, including Pasadena, currently have low levels of COVID-19, masks are recommended, but not required, for everyone indoors.
  • Masks are optional outdoors.
  • Both outdoor and indoor seating is available for services and communion will be served in both locations.
  • Our expectation is that those entering the church will be vaccinated (if vaccination is available to them)
  • Those who choose to be unvaccinated are requested to participate online.
  • Those seated indoors are asked to maintain social distance between individuals/households.
  • If we reach seating capacity in the church, ushers will guide you to alternative seating areas.
  • We ask you not enter if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever over 100.4°F or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, or if you have had contact in the last 14 days with someone diagnosed with or suspected to have COVID- 19.
