Racial Justice Ministry Honors Episcopalian Women Heros: The Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray & The Rev. Zelda Kennedy
12 noon – 1:30 p.m. in the Guild Room and on Zoom. We’ll watch video clips of Pauli Murray’s outstanding accomplishments in the midst of racism, sexism and gender identity struggles — and hear testimonials about Zelda Kennedy’s All Saints ministry. There will also be a call to action: to protest the removal of Pauli Murray’s biographical information from the webpage for the Pauli Murray Family Home in Durham, a National Historic Landmark. Internet archives show that the webpage was edited last month to remove the words ‘queer’ and ‘transgender’ — and Murray’s biography page was removed altogether. Join us! Light lunch will be served. To RSVP please email rjmascpas@gmail.com.

Every Sunday at 4:00 p.m. on Zoom — Reclaiming the Bible
This is “bible study” with a difference. Our goal will be to heal and move beyond the misunderstanding, confusion, hurtful interpretation, oppression, and other ways our bible has been used against us. Jesus is the Word of God, and God’s Word is one of love, hope, and reconciliation. This is the bible we’ll strive together to come home to in this small group study. Facilitated by Dr. Charles Foster. Contact Dr. Foster at drcharlesfoster@icloud.com for Zoom access.
Updated Jazz Vespers for March: John Clayton Trio
5:00 p.m. on the Chancel. (The Mina Choi Orchestra will be here July 13 at 5 p.m.).
Arranger and Producer John Clayton is a busy man. He is a Grammy© winner with nine additional nominations and has written and/or recorded with artists such as Milt Jackson, Diana Krall, Paul McCartney, Regina Carter, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Gladys Knight, Queen Latifah, McCoy Tyner, YoYo Ma and Charles Aznavour, to name only a few. It is John’s arrangement of the “Star Spangled Banner” that helped propel Whitney Houston in her 1990 performance at the Super Bowl (the recording went platinum). John feels “I’ve been guided by a village of musicians who helped me understand the humility that goes along with playing music at the highest level you can. Ray Brown used to tell me to ‘Learn how to play the bass!!’ Just take care of the music and it will take care of you.”
Gerald Clayton, son of John Clayton, honors the legacy of his father and all his musical ancestors through a commitment to artistic exploration, innovation, and reinvention. John and Gerald will be joined by vocalist Valerie Monroe. Validated parking will be available in Plaza las Fuentes. There is no charge. No reservations required.
