Vestry Notes: September 10, 2019

The Vestry of All Saints Church met on Tuesday evening, September 10, 2019. In addition to its regular agenda items of reports from committees and task forces, here’s what was accomplished and discussed:

  • Unanimous approval of new vestry member Thomas Diaz, who fulfills the term of retiring vestry member Derek Wan
  • Search is beginning for a candidate to fulfill the unexpired term of Scott England, who with his family has moved to Santa Fe
  • Kimberli Hudson will succeed Scott England as chair of the Finance Committee.
  • The Nominating Committee is looking for the next class of vestry members. The next step will be to attach a Nomination Form to the service leaflets for the rest of the month, with which parishioners can make nominations until the end of September.
  • Racial Justice Advisory Board (RJAB) co-chair Bonnie Rice reported on the progress toward addressing 2018 RJAB recommendations, and the current status of the RJAB. She also invited everyone to join in our “No Ashes in the Fire” community read on September 27.
  • The Fall Giving Campaign begins next month. We hope that parishioners will be even more generous than they have in the past.
  • Brian Robinson, Mission Values & Vision committee member, presented an updated All Saints Mission Statement that more clearly reflects our four core values. It is the first update in 15 years, and it was unanimously approved. Come to Homecoming to find out more!
  • Juan Mejia addressed staffing capacity, one of our Foundational Goals. Alfredo Feregrino has been hired as a new Associate Rector and will begin on November 1. Interviews of candidates for the other open Associate Rector position will take place in mid-October.
  • Jim Albarano gave a PACES update, addressing the Foundation Goal around welcoming space. PACES is now refining options for campus improvement in order to bring them to vestry by Spring 2020. Mike Kinman encouraged all parishioners to take the PACES campus tours to better understand opportunities for campus enhancements.
  • Nancy Naecker, Director of Congregational Development, announced that Congregational Development had re-imagined New Members Class – and renamed it “Getting Connected.” It will focus on our four core values and on increasing connection to the All Saints Community. The class will begin on October 6, and it’s not just for newcomers but also for people who have been around for a while!
