Scholars-in-Community at All Saints Church are theologians and scholars whose work All Saints Church wishes to engage and support in a formal way as part of our mission. We strive to be shaped by the scholars and their work, as well as to provide a platform and resources for that work to transform the wider church and the world. All Saints Church’s first scholar in community is the Rev. Dr. Wil Gafney, a preacher, professor, activist, and author of A Women’s Lectionary for the Whole Church Year A and Year W (Church House Publishing), which All Saints Church became the first congregation to use in 2021. Dr. Gafney will discuss her work.

Jazz Vespers @ 5:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 16, 2022: Featuring Josh Nelson
Born and raised in Southern California pianist-composer-bandleader Josh Nelson has performed with some of the most respected names in jazz, including Kurt Elling, John Pizzarelli, Benny Golson, Sheila Jordan, John Clayton, George Mraz, Jeff Hamilton, Dave Koz, Joe Chambers and Peter Erskine. Nelson toured with legendary vocalist Natalie Cole for six years and continues to tour with vocalists Gaby Moreno, Freda Payne, Alicia Olatuja, Sara Gazarek, accordionist Richard Galliano, saxophonist Tom Scott, multi-instrumentalist Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and violinist Christian Howes. Josh Nelson was joined by Karl Mccomas-Reichl on bass and Dan Schnelle on drums for Jazz Vespers at All Saints Church, Pasadena on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
