A letter from Mike Kinman to the parish on June 22, 2019 (bilingual English and Spanish):
Dear Ones,
Yesterday, Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore confirmed and the Los Angeles Times reported that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents will be conducting sweeps targeting immigrants beginning Sunday in 10 U.S. cities, including Los Angeles. According to Moore, about 140 individuals are targeted in Southern California.
All Saints Church condemns these raids and the actions of President Trump which authorized them. Any individuals or families who are targeted by ICE for deportation will be provided sanctuary in our sacred space.
I make this invitation for sanctuary with the canonical authority given me as rector over the buildings of All Saints Church, with the knowledge and support of our wardens, and with full faith that the people of All Saints Church, should this come to pass, will come together to provide for anyone seeking sanctuary as part of our values of Radical Inclusion, Courageous Justice, Joyful Spirituality and Ethical Stewardship.
As I am out of town this weekend, Sally Howard is the point person on campus for anyone requesting sanctuary until I return. A protocol has been established, and a group of staff and vestry are meeting this afternoon to finalize details so we are prepared to receive anyone requesting sanctuary.
This action by our government is the worst of fear-mongering and white supremacy. Beloved, productive and irreplaceable images of God, including many from our own Pasadena and All Saints community, once again have to fear that they will have their families torn apart, perhaps forever, which causes devastating harm to them and the communities of which they are a part. It is an unconscionable use of fear to continue to divide our nation for political purposes.
As All Saints Church, we have always stood for love over fear, reconciliation over division and restoration over retribution. As such, we call on President Trump, as president of a nation largely populated by immigrants and descendants of immigrants like himself, to stand down these raids. We further call on the president instead to devote the resources of our government to caring for the most vulnerable of our citizens and providing reparative aid to the natives of this country who welcomed the immigrants from whom many of us are descended and the descendants of those who were brought to this nation against their will to build our economy.
Please continue to pray for all those who are being targeted, those who are being asked to carry out these orders, and those, including our president, who are issuing those orders. May love and justice for all prevail in our hearts, our nation, and the world.
I also urge everyone at All Saints to join me in reaching out to the Latino-Hispanic members of our church community and assure them of our love, prayers and commitment. This would be a wonderful Sunday for as many people as possible to worship at our 1 pm Spanish-language service as a show of love and solidarity.

Querida y estimada comunidad de Todos Los Santos en Pasadena,
Hoy, el jefe de Policía confirmo y el diario Los Angeles Times reportó que los agentes de ICE, (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) estarán conduciendo redadas que están enfocados en inmigrantes empezando este domingo en diez ciudades de los Estados Unidos que incluye Los Angeles. De acuerdo al jefe de Policía Michael Moore dijo que hay como 140 individuos que están específicamente buscando.
La Iglesia de Todos Los Santos en Pasadena condena estas redadas y las acciones que el Presidente Trump autorizó. Cualquier individuo o familia que se encuentra en peligro por ICE para la deportación tendrá albergue en el santuario de nuestro espacio sagrado.
Esta invitación está otorgada por la autoridad canónigo que me es dada como rector sobre los edificios de la iglesia Todos Los Santos en Pasadena, con el conocimiento, y apoyo de nuestros guardianes, y con la fe completa que si fuera necesario, la comunidad de Todos Los Santos estarán unidas en proveer este albergue como parte de nuestros valores de Inclusión Radical, Justicia Audaz, Espiritualidad Alegre, y Mayordomía Ética.
Esta acción por nuestro gobierno es lo peor de la supremacía blanca y la táctica de infundir temor. Nuestros amados, productivos y queridos de nuestra comunidad que son insustituibles imágenes de Dios y eso incluye varios de nuestra propia comunidad de Pasadena y Todos Los Santos, otra vez estarán sujetos al temor que sus familias estarán destrozados quizás para siempre y esto causa daño devastador a ellos y a la comunidad a lo cual pertenecen. Empleando el temor para dividir nuestra nación para fines políticos es una táctica excesiva y desvergonzado.
En la Iglesia Todos Santos siempre hemos actuado firmemente con amor sobre el temor, reconciliación sobre la división y restauración sobre la venganza. Siendo así, llamamos al Presidente Trump, como presidente de toda una nación poblado en su mayoría con inmigrantes y descendientes de inmigrantes como si mismo, que pone fin a estas redadas. Además, llamamos al Presidente que al contrario asigna los recursos de nuestro gobierno para cuidar a los más vulnerables de nuestra ciudadanía y que provee ayuda reparativa a los nativos de este país quienes dieron la bienvenida a los inmigrantes de donde provienen muchos de la nación que fueron esclavizados en contra de su voluntad para construir nuestra economía.
Sigamos por favor en oración para todos aquellos que son los enfocados de estas redadas, para aquellos que se les pide hacer las redadas, y para aquellos, incluyendo el presidente que están implementando estas órdenes. Que el amor y la justicia reina en nuestros corazones, nuestra nación y en nuestro mundo.
Tambien, pido a toda la feligresía de Todos Los Santos que se unen conmigo y extienden la mano a los miembros de nuestra comunidad Latina-Hispana en nuestra iglesia y hazlos saber con seguridad que nuestro compromiso, amor, y oraciones están con ellos. Esta será una maravillosa oportunidad de unirse con ellos este domingo para que tengamos lo más gente posible juntos adorando al Señor en nuestra misa en español como una muestra de nuestro afecto y solidaridad.
