Pasadena Adopts Policies To Phase Out Fossil Fuels!

Every week at All Saints Church we put our faith into action. This week, please sign the letter thanking Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo and the City Council for Adopting SAFE Cities Movement Goals!

In just the past six months, more than 30 jurisdictions in the US and Canada introduced or passed policies to electrify their buildings and end using fossil fuels. Pasadena has become one of them.

Buildings are responsible for 13% of greenhouse gas emissions in the US, and children in homes with gas stoves face a 42% increased risk of asthma symptoms – that’s on par with the risks from secondhand smoke. Burning gas in homes also generates harmful emissions of formaldehyde, methane, nitrogen oxides, and other pollutants. That’s why it’s so incredible that Pasadena is moving toward all-electric buildings.

Overcoming the climate crisis is going to take action from all of us, at all levels of government, and we are grateful that Pasadena is becoming part of the SAFE Cities movement.

Already more than 135 cities and other local governments across the US and Canada have passed concrete policies to stop fossil fuel expansion, build renewable energy infrastructure, and create good, long-term jobs. Together, we know that we can turn these local victories into a powerful global movement.
