9:00 a.m. — ASC Talks: A Story Still Being Written: All Saints, Kenya, and the Power of Partnership
with Grace Dyrness and Pat O’Reilly
9:00 a.m. in the Guild Room. What happens when you are 60+ years old and you hear a Kenyan Bishop speak about
the challenging situation of children with spinal bifida, cerebral palsy and other disabilities within his Diocese? Well, you just pack up and go! Percia Hutcherson, a member of Christ the Good Shepherd, Leimert Park, heard this as a call from God and responded by moving to Eldoret, Western Kenya, and establishing a rehabilitation center for treatment of these children. Children with these disabilities are often abandoned, or almost worse, left in back rooms, tied up, and in other ways shunned. But Percia began to make a difference! Come hear about how her legacy lives on in Eldoret. The Rev. Canon Patricia O’Reilly and Dr. Grace Dyrness will share this remarkable story and challenge us all to be attuned to God’s calling in our lives.
