Every week at All Saints Church we put our faith into action. This week we focus on human rights in the Philippines by supporting the Philippine Human Rights Act (H.R. 3884) in Congress

The Philippines has been deemed one of the deadliest countries in the world for land defenders, journalists and trade unionists. The Philippine government and its security forces, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police, are the perpetrators of these extrajudicial killings and political assassinations. Despite this, the U.S. government funds the Philippine security forces and bolster them via training, intelligence, counterinsurgency, weapons supply, and more. If passed, the Philippine Human Rights Act (H.R. 3884) will suspend all security funding to the Philippines until basic human rights standards are met by the Philippine government, including: compliance with audits and investigations; ensuring the end of killings of unionists, journalists, indigenous, farmers, LGBT activists, and all other groups targeted by the Philippine government; and the prosecution of members of the Philippine military and police found to have violated human rights.

Members of the All Saints AAPI Ministry will be at the Action Table to gather signatures on a petition supporting the Philippine Human Rights Act and provide information about this issue.
