All Saints Hosts Gun Violence Vigil

On Sunday, December 10, from 7 to 8 p.m., the All Saints Church Gun Violence Prevention Task Force will sponsor the 5th Annual Community Vigil “We Are Touched By Gun Violence.” This vigil is a way for all to acknowledge and remember the more than 300,000 Americans killed by gun violence since the 2012 Sandy Hook School Massacre.

All people from the greater Pasadena area are invited to gather in the Chapel of All Saints Church at 132 N. Euclid Avenue, Pasadena, for a time of reflection. Speakers during the candle light vigil will include Pastor Kerwin Manning (Pasadena Church), Judith Carter (survivor of loss of family members to suicide by a firearm), and Nicole Gatto (whose father was a victim of gun violence). Members of the Task Force will read examples of gun violence deaths in Pasadena and throughout the country in 2017.

“I am honored to be a part of a program that focuses on the tragedy of gun violence in our society. By sharing my story I hope to illustrate how one gun and one bullet reverberated through generations of a family,” stated Carter, one of the event’s speakers.

Those who attend will be encouraged to speak the name of a victim who they wish to remember and to ring a bell and in his or her honor.

The goal of this event is to help the community recommit to preventing the epidemic of gun violence and its devastating impact on individuals, families, and the community.

This vigil is one of hundreds throughout the country that will take place in December, sponsored by Newtown Foundation, Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, and Organizing for Action. It is sponsored by the All Saints Church Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.
