Colored Television is a novel published last year by Danzy Senna, who, says the New Yorker, “has spent her career finding humor in the ways that biracial people are questioned, fetishized, or ignored in America.” This novel tells the story of Jane Gibson, a resident of Los Angeles, whose husband isn’t selling his paintings and who isn’t selling her historical fiction. In desperation she turns to television with an idea for a sitcom about the biracial experience. Maybe this, at last, is the way she should sell herself and get rich and famous.
