What are you reading, watching or listening to that is giving you strength for the journey this summer? All are welcome for this opportunity to connect, reflect and explore together. And donuts will be served!
Sunday, August 17 — Strength for the Journey: Kindness & Resistance in a Siberian Gulag
Director of Communications Keith Holeman leads. Strength for the journey can be found in reflecting on the remarkable people you’ve known. “I’ve been writing about my relationship with my father-in-law for my kids – their grampa. In December 2014, he was told at age 94 that he had a year left to live, at which point he let me know he wanted to have one more drink together before he died – though his daughter and I had been divorced for over a decade. So I flew to northern Japan in the summer of 2015 and for two weeks helped to take care of him – and learned things about him, with a little prodding, I’d never heard before in the 33 years I’d known him.” (It was also the first time I watched Shohei Ohtani throw his sweeper!)
