A Journey Toward Hope From Ashes to a New Relationship with Earth & One Another
with John Philip Newell
7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Church, followed by a reception in Sweetland Hall from 8:30-9:00 p.m. Internationally renowned Celtic teacher, John Philip Newell, will reflect on the themes of his new book, The Great Search:Turning to Earth & Soul in the Quest for Healing & Home, in the context of the devastating Southern California wildfires — inviting us through word, music, symbol and song to grieve our losses and re-imagine our future. You are invited to bring with you a symbol or photograph representing what has been lost — or a remnant or object from the ashes of your home — and place it by the altar of hope at the front of the church as we lament the sufferings of Earth and humanity and yearn for the way forward together.
