Marking One Year Since the Eaton Fire: A Week of Healing, Prayer, and Community

As we approach the one-year mark since the Eaton Fire, All Saints Church invites all who were impacted—those rebuilding, those still grieving, and the wider community who carries this collective memory—to join us for a week of healing, reflection, and support.

Healing Sunday, January 4, 2026 — Healing Services and Blessing of Prayer Shawls
7:30 a.m. service in the Chapel; 10:00 a.m. service in the Church.
We begin this sacred week with Healing Sunday at All Saints. Thomas Diaz will preach as we gather to honor our resilience, acknowledge our losses, and hold space for the ongoing journeys of recovery. All are welcome. Also during the service, prayer shawls knitted and crocheted by members of our community will be presented and blessed. Thomas Diaz preaches.

Monday through Sunday, January 5–11Open Sanctuary
9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Throughout the week, the church will remain open for quiet reflection, prayer, and remembrance. This is an unstructured space meant simply to be—to breathe, remember, and find comfort.

Wednesday, January 7 – Midday Eucharist & Evening Taizé + Labyrinth
12:10 p.m. in the Church. On the calendar day marking one year since the fire, we will hold a Noonday Eucharist with special intentions for all affected.
5:30 p.m. in the Church. We gather again for a contemplative Taizé service, accompanied by the Labyrinth. Information = Jeannie Cobb at jeanniecobb@me.com.
Pastoral care staff will be present in the Chapel throughout the day for one-on-one prayer, healing, and support.

Saturday, January 10 – Youth Self-Restorative Day & Community Dinner
We’re creating a gentle space for youth to pause, breathe, and find a little joy. Join us for a relaxed self-care day featuring free hair styling and cuts, time to browse our pop-up bookstore, and the chance to pick out beauty products from our self-care store. We’ll also offer quiet reflection areas with therapy dogs and space to simply be together with snacks and beverages. Everyone is welcome—come just as you are. Please RSVP here.
In the evening, we host a Community Dinner for anyone impacted by the fire. This is a free gathering of nourishment and connection—please register here.

Sunday, January 11 — Faith & Formation: Science & Faith as Tools for Resilience & Recovery with Dr. Lucy Jones
9:00 a.m. in the Forum.
We are honored to welcome Dr. Lucy Jones to the All Saints Forum for an exploration of the social science behind music, joy and community as tools for resilience and recovery from disaster. Dr. Lucy brings her credentials as a renowned “disaster scientist,” a gifted musician and life-long Episcopalian to this important conversation about the connection between faith and science.

Sunday, January 11 – A Climate Evensong Offered by the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles
5:00 p.m. in the Church.
Marking a year since the Eaton and Palisades Fires, the Climate Evensong is an opportunity to gather in lament for the losses in the fires, to gather in hope for the resilience of the ongoing recovery, and to gather in commitment to action to reverse the damage to our world. Inspired by the vision of Dr. Lucy Jones, the service is framed within the traditional Anglican liturgy of Choral Evensong. A joint offering of the Bishop’s Commissions on Climate Change and Liturgy & Music of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, it is an invitation into a musical and meditative sound bath to find stillness and experience God’s grace. We hope this special Climate Evensong will be a gift to the whole community. Join us at All Saints Church in Pasadena. All are welcome, in person and via live stream. A reception will follow.

If you are in need of additional pastoral support at any point during this week, please reach out to Thomas Diaz, Director of Pastoral Care, at tdiaz@allsaints-pas.org.

Together, we remember. Together, we heal. Together, we hope.
