Sunday Morning Live Faith, Formation & Fellowship: Gratitude. With Susan Brown.
9:00 a.m. in the Guild Room. “It comes at us from every direction at this time of year, doesn’t it – be grateful for what you have been given – it’s Thanksgiving!” Gratitude is something deeper than green bean casserole, though, or in some families, the turkey that became the tamales and those are what we really crave! Gratitude is awareness of gifts and beauty in our lives often existing right beside undeniable pain. As the Buddhist teacher and psychologist Jack Kornfield said: ‘Gratitude is the confidence in life itself. In it, we feel how the same force that pushes grass through cracks in the sidewalk invigorates our own life.’ Come join this interactive exploration. Bring both your “cracks in the sidewalk” and your experiences of gratitude. Facilitated by Susan Brown, long-time parishioner and Administrator of By Your Side, an ECS Compassion Program.

A Brisk Urban Walk Around Silver Lake Reservoir
2:30 p.m. in the meadow across the street from the historic Neutra VDL Studio at 2300 Silver Lake Blvd. For this particular lunch, we welcome all who are interested to join the Urban Walkers group for A Brisk Urban Walk around Silver Lake Reservoir! This 2.2 mile walk is mostly flat with a couple of short inclines. The views across the lake to the San Gabriel Mountains are beautiful. Hopefully the views will be clear for our walk (and rain will cancel the event). Please wear comfortable trail shoes or non-skid tennis shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Most of the walk is on dirt, and all of it is protected from the road. There are public restrooms in the park on the very south end of the Lake or at Whole Foods nearby, just northeast of the reservoir. Free street parking is located on Silver Lake Blvd. Please park on the east side of the reservoir between these two addresses: 1900 through 2300 Silver Lake Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90039, and use the crosswalk at the signal near either of these addresses to safely cross the street to the walking path. You may take in the view featured in the photo overlooking the south end of the Lake just northwest of 1900 Silver Lake Blvd. We will be walking counter-clockwise around the Lake, with possible extensions as time and interest permit. Juliann Budimir will lead this walk. Info, RSVPs, or questions for either of these events = Amanda McCormick, amccormick@allsaints-pas.org.
Every Sunday at 4:00 p.m. on Zoom — Reclaiming the Bible
This is “bible study” with a difference. Our goal will be to heal and move beyond the misunderstanding, confusion, hurtful interpretation, oppression, and other ways our bible has been used against us. Jesus is the Word of God, and God’s Word is one of love, hope, and reconciliation. This is the bible we’ll strive together to come home to in this small group study. Facilitated by Dr. Charles Foster. Contact Dr. Foster at drcharlesfoster@icloud.com for Zoom access.
