Sermon @ 11:30 a.m., on Sunday, December 19, 2021: Moth and Flame

“We are living in the backlash. And the message of all these backlashes is clear – be afraid. Shut your mouth. Don’t name the addictions. Don’t speak the truths that liberate. Certainly, don’t talk about leading a revolution. Because if you do, we will bring the hurt for you … and we know you are already hurting plenty already. It is an effective strategy. It has been used to keep oppression in place. It has been used to preserve addictive systems for thousands of years.  And … we gather on this fourth Sunday of Advent to say … NO MORE.”

Sermon by Mike Kinman from worship at 11:30 a.m. on the Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 19, 2021 at All Saints Church, Pasadena. Readings: Psalm 80:1-7 and Luke 1:39-55. Read the text of the sermon here.

Forum @ 10:15 a.m., on Sunday, December 19, 2021: Episcopal Migration Ministries

Brother Chris McNabb, member of the Order of Francis and Clare, joined us in the Forum on Sunday, December 19, 2021 to talk about the Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM). EMM is a ministry of The Episcopal Church and one of nine national agencies responsible for resettling refugees in the United States in partnership with the government. We discussed the work of EMM and how you can participate in the actions of supporting our Afghan Allies; along with Refugee Resettlement, Asylum rights, and advocate for humane alternatives to Immigration Detention. As a people of faith, walking with a revolutionary Jesus, we are committed to dismantling all oppressive systems by advocating for our migrate siblings in building structures that reflect God’s true justice and compassion.

(apologies for the audio technical difficulties throughout the Forum)
