Dodger Blue Sunday at All Saints Church

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

As we continue the work of being God’s agents of love, justice and compassion in the world the challenges in front of us can seem endless. The gift of moments of respite — of recreation — of joy and of plain old entertainment — are ones to rejoice and be glad in. We give thanks for them not only for their own sake — but for the role they play in renewing and refreshing us for this ongoing vocation of turning the human race into the human family.

This Sunday — October 29, 2017 — is one of those moments. We are going to declare Dodger Blue Sunday at All Saints Church as we rejoice and are glad that our home team is in the World Series for the first time in 29 years.

We are going to give thanks for the gift of baseball and community and the thrill of athletic excellence by encouraging folks to wear their Dodger Blue to church. And then — following the 11:15 a.m. service before the 1:00 p.m. service — we’re going to have a congregational photo op in the South Driveway.

It’s really this simple:

Wear Blue.
Show Up.
Rejoice in the day that the Lord has made.

Win or lose the Dodgers are in the World Series. Let us rejoice and be glad in that!
