Healthcare is a Human Right

At All Saints Church in Pasadena we put our faith into action every week — and this week our action was part of our ongoing commitment to stand for healthcare as a human right by urging our congressional representatives to oppose the Graham-Cassidy proposal to dismantle the Affordable Care Act.

Since it was Social Media Sunday as well as Save Our Care Sunday, we offered folks the opportunity to participate in both at the same time with a social media campaign to share on Twitter and Instagram. You can see all the awesome photos here — thanks to EVERYONE who participated!

And here’s the best news … it worked! Just hours ago, the NYT reported that “Senate Republican leaders on Tuesday officially pulled the plug on the latest plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act.”

Did our signs on the lawn and on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram make that happen? Not by themselves. But they were — and are — outward and visible signs of the inward and spiritual commitment to respect the dignity of every human being. And that means working for a nation where healthcare is a human right — not a for profit commodity.
