Sunday, October 4 is St. Francis Day and our Annual Blessing of the Animals Celebration! Canines and felines, reptiles and rodents … birds of a feather … whoever you are and wherever you find yourself on the spectrum of animal companions on the journey you are welcome to join us in the celebration of the life of St. Francis — the patron saint of animals and the environment.
All pets (accompanied by their person!) are invited to process through the Church at the beginning of the 10:00 a.m. service, and then adjourn to the outdoor worship service on the quad lawn where the service will include the blessing of animals. So please bring your pets, photos of your pets, or even a stuffed animal and join in the parade!
Jonathan Stoner will preach from the inside-the-church pulpit.
Tim Rich will preach on the lawn, where the service will include stations for both communion and blessing of the animals.
If you would like to participate in the procession through the church, please arrive by 9:45 a.m. And if navigating steps is difficult, please let our ushers know and we will guide you to the North Transept accessibility door and have you join the procession from the back of the church.
