Vestry Notes: January 9, 2018

The Vestry of All Saints Church met on Tuesday, January 9th – its first meeting of 2018. A large part of the agenda was dedicated for time to share stories about the life, work and witness of the Reverend Zelda Kennedy – our recently retired Senior Associate for Pastoral Care who died on December 29th. The memorial service celebrating her life will be held here at All Saints on Saturday, January 13th at 2pm.

The Vestry received encouraging news from Treasurer Jim Albarano about year-end financials and an update from the Giving Department on the pledge campaign for 2018. The meeting also included the announcement of MaryAnn Ahart as rector Mike Kinman’s choice to succeed retiring Senior Warden Trula Worthy Clayton and a spontaneous standing ovation in tribute to Trula’s leadership over the past year. (pictured above) Mike also offered updates on the search processes for both the Director of Music and open Clergy position. Both search committees are moving forward with their work: the music committee is in the process of narrowing the field of candidates and the clergy committee has three candidates to consider.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the TLC (Transitional Life Committee) presented the staff with a totally awesome espresso/coffee maker in thanks for their ongoing commitment to the mission and ministry of All Saints Church.

In addition to vestry and staff, the meeting was blessed with eight visitors – who were invited to both observe and to contribute comments at the conclusion of the meeting. The next meeting of the Vestry is scheduled for Tuesday, January 23rd at 7pm in Sweetland Hall. Visitors are always welcome.
